I am sure many of you already are aware of GMPartsDirect.com, but for those of you who are not this seems to be an excellent source for what they claim are genuine GM Parts at savings of roughly 50% off of GM List. I have bought several small things from them, and it appears to be legit. (if someone knows otherwise please speak up!) If you don't have the GM part number you are looking for, you send them a message and they find it. Then, you purchase the part much like you would something on Amazon. Anyway, the reason I wanted to let people know about this is NOT that I get a cut, but the more competitors there are out there for parts for our cars the lower the prices get for us, AND we are not held hostage by suppliers---lots of COrvette service operations do NOT know about GM Parts Direct, and try and charge full GM rate. You should hear the excuses when I say I can get the same part for half. Recently, for example, I was thinking of replacing a heater hose and GM list was $128 (it's the complex heater/oil cooler hose). GM Parts Direct had it for $64. Their shipping is higher than average, as they say this is where their margin is. Hmm...don't know about that. Still, the parts appear to be the real thing and are much cheaper in the final analysis. I would also recommend prowling around on Ebay, of course, but add that you should also email the supplier of something for our cars even if its not what you are looking for, as frequently these people stock what you want, as well.
