I am sure many of you already are aware of GMPartsDirect.com, but for those of you who are not this seems to be an excellent source for what they claim are genuine GM Parts at savings of roughly 50% off of GM List. I have bought several small things from them, and it appears to be legit. (if someone knows otherwise please speak up!) If you don't have the GM part number you are looking for, you send them a message and they find it. Then, you purchase the part much like you would something on Amazon. Anyway, the reason I wanted to let people know about this is NOT that I get a cut, but the more competitors there are out there for parts for our cars the lower the prices get for us, AND we are not held hostage by suppliers---lots of COrvette service operations do NOT know about GM Parts Direct, and try and charge full GM rate. You should hear the excuses when I say I can get the same part for half. Recently, for example, I was thinking of replacing a heater hose and GM list was $128 (it's the complex heater/oil cooler hose). GM Parts Direct had it for $64. Their shipping is higher than average, as they say this is where their margin is. Hmm...don't know about that. Still, the parts appear to be the real thing and are much cheaper in the final analysis. I would also recommend prowling around on Ebay, of course, but add that you should also email the supplier of something for our cars even if its not what you are looking for, as frequently these people stock what you want, as well.

they sell at dealer cost BUT make a profit on the S&H charges

I think it would be wise to add the SH and then check at a GM dealer and compare the price to thier carry out price. I have don't this with a number of sites and also compared to my parts house and found I usually don't save any money.

Genuine GM parts, because they all ship from a GM dealership somewhere. Unless you can get the parts from a local dealer at less than list price, you will usually save money, even with their shipping price scheme.

check out vandevere pontiac. The guys name is dal hes great to deal with doesnt charge shipping on ever single part and will save you money. Alot of people in the impala crowd use him its vandevere.com the part prices that are listed online are the correct prices but you you call or email you wont be dissatisfied. ive used him a few time for my 79 and for parts for my caprice definitly worth it

Agreed, and this is something I have done and I have still saved big. Also, it's a good idea to confirm the part number with the dealership. There was a guy at a local Chevy dealer who would give good discounts, but he left and the discounts went with him.

When I did the LT4 upgrade on my 92 LT1, I bought the kit from gmpartdirect.com.

I had my local Chevy dealer's service department do the work so I gave their parts department a shot at getting all the LT4 upgrade parts for me. I gave them the list of parts gmpartsdirect.com included in their kit and the price quoted. A couple of days later, the parts manager called me back and said I should order the kit from gmpartsdirect.com as they could not beat the price - and that include my club discount. So, that's what I did.

The kit was complete in every way with the GM standard and high performance parts promised.

I recommend gmpartsdirect.com.

I used them for my Hot Cam & Timing Chain Kit.

Very satisfied w/ price and service.

If your dealer is reputable, They will sell to you at slightly higher than GMPartsdirect.com, save you the shipping... it's a Win/Win.

I bought from GM Parts Direct.
Prices are the best, S&H is high, and they do not have a phone number, so if something goes wrong with the order, you have to play email tag.

As far as the part numbers, I would suggest buying one of these for about $10.
I got this one from an Ebay vendor.

I have had good luck with GMParts direct, however, I shop around sometime, JEGS, Summit racing, Superior Chevrolet, and others have been cheaper when shipping/handling charges or factored in. I have only used the dealer when I need something now, because they have not been close in the price comparisons.
