Thanks for the information thus far on this issue. I've been looking in to going dual and here is the latest info. I've found. Corvette Central has the best deal on pipes and mufflers. Their 2 1/2" dual exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers is $319. I've checked around and couldn't find a better deal. If you're concerned about legality of going dual, then check with your DMV about classic plated cars being exempt from emission testing after 30 years old. Also, I've been told that the car would probably pass emission testing anyway if you chose not to go with classic plates. I removed the air pump and now waiting for my exhaust from Corvette Central. I also have been told that if you pour a quart or more of denatured alcohol in your tank before testing it can help pass your vehicle. The alcohol will allow your fuel to burn hotter and give off fewer hydrocarbons. Can't wait to hear the sound and feel a little extra power.

i just put the ccentral duals on my 72. perfect fit.

as far as emissions. god bless texas. not even emissions testing on new cars.

Depends on where you live. My 77 just gets a safety inspection. Actually, they spend the whole time just asking questions about the car and don't even check the lights. I passed the first time with no brake lights and only one taillight. My wife's 05 Infiniti however, gets a 45 min check with the taillight sniffer and the whole nine yards.

This is new territory for most C3 owners. Who wouldn't want cat free dual exhaust on their car. That's what the two holes in the cross member are for - right? The older cars are not checked much for equipment (i.e. air pump, etc.). In Idaho they connect to one of the spark plug wires insert a sensor in the tail pipe and that's it. No other inspection required. I think the truth is that they don't know what to look for on a 30 year old car.

Glad to see "baxsom" got his pipes from Central as well - makes me feel good to know.
