Where did you get your filter cartridges ???

I got them at Tractor Supply Center. Here is a picture of them.....the standard cartridge that comes with it is only good to 95%, but they had these replacement cartridges on the rack next to them that were good for 99.97%.... www.myTSCstore.com

They are made by UVEX Safety out of Dallas, 401-232-1200. The replacement cartridge number was CBQG404 and the respirator number was CB600.

The replacement cartridges are for Asbestos, welding fumes, lead filter replacement......that is probably why they are so high in efficiency.

To check if the mask fits properly, once you put it on, snug it up with the straps and then cover the exhalation valve on the bottom with your palm and blow out; the mask should inflate on your face (puff out). Then, cover the filters with the palms of your hands and breath in; the mask should suck in. It should also fit while your face is in motion (head roatating) and speaking, but you need a partner with a 'challenge agent) ..... stinky cigar is a "cheater" method.

That looks like a nice neg-pressure chamber/glove box .... easy to wheel outside to change bags (stay upwind with respirator on).

HEPA ..... used to stand for "High Efficiency Particle Absolute" and was a nuke industry standard. Now it's commonly downgraded to "Particle Air"; that's mostly a statistical function regarding the batch testing of the filter medium. That's what the "Magenta"/purple color code is about.
