I just picked up my wet nitrous kit last night from Bob over at Advanced Auto of Cape Coral, and I'm itching to install it this weekend. I bought the Nitrous Supply Wet Kit 50-150HP. The kit comes with excellent instructions and I have to admit the candy apple nitrous bottle looks really good too. I'll take pic's after the install is complete, and post my impressions of NS systems.

How much did the kit set you back?

initial cost is trivial...reloading is the big expense

I only plan on setting it up for a 75hp shot at first. When I get my top end installed i.e. new springs, roller rockers, timing chain etc. etc. I will jump up the hp.

I hit the bottle for the first time last night, and I'm wondering why I didn't install nitrous sooner. The install was fairly straight forward, and Bob at Advanced Auto was excellent with his customer service (he was available to answer all questions, and when I dropped by to show him the install even tweaked the set-up to get it just right).

The biggest surprise was how fast the motor climbed towards the rev limiter. I was manually shifting and almost missed the shift from low to 2nd because it got there so much faster than I'm used to. I promise I will take pics as soon as I get the everything picture ready.

Glad to see you like your new system Greg! Gotta be careful tho... nitrous can be habit forming. :L

My overall impression of your install is very good, especially for a DIYer. ;) , and the quality of the kit is on a par with the best NOS has to offer.

now lets get it to the track!

where's the pics? :D

I'll get pics if Greg comes out to "represent" at the Vette show on the 25th. This is one particular Vette I'm proud of... :)

Jeff,
I see from your sig that Alvin tuned your ride... better check with him about the timing map he loaded before using nitrous. You may want to consider stepping up to MSD ignition to use a timing retard. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

sounds good! whats all done to it?

Mad-Mic, I have SLP Claw intake, Hooker 1 3/4 Long tubes, 3" true dual mandrel bent custom exhaust with a X pipe, Magnaflow mufflers, NS wet shot currently jetted for 100HP installed. I have a Compcams XFI 466 cam, Scorpion 1.6 RR's, Crane 99893 valve spring kit, MSD opti cap & rotor, Compcams Hi-Tech pushrods, Crane Roller Lifters, LT4 Extreme duty Timing Chain getting installed next month. After that it will be a 2800 rpm stall converter, and a Dana 44 with 373 gears.

Its a process but we'll get there

Very Cool! sounds like a mid to low 11 second ride in the works :D when you installed the bottle did you mount it in the back and if so how did you run the lines? what add on's did you do with the NS kit from Bob?

cam specs?

ever dyno yet NA?

thanks!

I mounted the bottle in the hatch, but there was nowhere to get all 4 mounting bolts through the trunk and access them from the bottom. So I cut a piece of 3/4" plywood to form fit the rear hatch arear from the storage bin back and bolted the bottle to that. I installed some black marine carpet on the plywood (I got it at Lowes), and you can't even tell it's back there. I removed the storage bin and ran the main nitrous feed line through a small hole I drilled in the side of the bin and ran it the length of the car zip-tied to the fuel lines. The solenoid mounting locations will probably be different than yours because of the different motors. I fabbed a small sheet metal bracket to house the arming switch and purge button in the interior so not to cut through any interior trim pieces.

I also bought the purge kit which is as simple to install, and ran the purge line to vent right at the center of my windshield.

The cam specs are 218/224 duration .570 I .565 E lift 113 LSA w/ 1.6 rockers

Damn, now I wanna run out and get 1:W

Here's an overview of the system...

All in all, I'd say a pretty good installation.

Very Cool!

I am thinking about mounting the bottle in the back of the rear hatch how did you mount the brackets? can you use tapper screws to bite down on the plastic? i'm scared about drilling a hole into the gas tank. never really looked at the setup underneath although i've had the car on the lift several times working on it at my friends shop.

No the bottle is mounted to 3/4" plywood that is carpeted I never put a hole in the rear hatch except to pull the nitrous line through. I sits very snug and doesn't move a bit. I actually think that it is a stronger mount than if I had tried bolting the bottle to the fiberglass plus there is nowhere to bolt the bottle to the rear hatch and have access the bolts because of fuel tank, lines etc. etc..
