My clutch is smoking, stinks, and it just started slipping. The car has 22k on it. It was mostly lady driven from 9k to 20k miles. I just got the car with 20k on it.

It is a 96 LT4.

I am going to replace the clutch myself. I am a pretty good wrench if I am changing like kind parts. I want to do this job without too much "dont fit" problems.

In the Mid America book they have a Fidanza aluminum flywheel that can be used with a stage I, or stage II clutch kit. Is this the way to go? That package will run around $850 if I order today with the 10% off deal.

Factory replacements call for a dual mass flywheel that must be replaced along with the clutch. This set up will run close to $2 grand from GMpartsdirect.com.

I dont mind spending the bigger money if the product is worth the expense, but if this aluminum Fidanza flywheel with clutch from Mid America is a good product why not use it instead.

Are there any others that are good quality, yet not as expensive as the original GM factory stuff?

TIA, Paul

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question. Hopefully you have found one or someone will be around here shortly to give you one.
