I've noticed that on certain GS Corvettes some have black wheels and some don't. Why is that? I thought maybe it was either an aftermarket install or maybe it was a option. Please help. Thanks.
Grand Sport Wheels were the same as the 1994-1995 ZR-1's 5 spoke wheels except painted with a glossy black finish. Special gloss black finished front brake calipers with the "Corvette" name in bright aluminum were also part of the Grand Sport option as well.
6Shooter is correct. Grand Sports were produced with the black ZR-1 style, 5-spoke wheels. Some GS owners, like me, have changed the wheels. Mine are the same style but chrome. It's just a form of personalization.
The five spoke look may be the same but remember that the 11 inch ZR1 rear wheels and the 11 inch Grand Sport rear wheels have different offsets. The Grand Sport has the 50? inch offset. I think the ZR1 wheel is 32 inch? If you were to install the ZR1 wheel on the Grand Sport convertible or any later regular C4, it would stick way out of the fender. It would still stick out with a Grand Sport coupe also but just not as bad due to the fender flares. Thought I would mention this. Hate to see you think they are the same and see you order ZR1 wheels for your Regular C4 and then freak when you see how bad they stick out. :gap
