Hi all
anyone in here driving a green C4 through Southern DE lastnight with MD tags BAC 0014. This car also had some mods including custom wheels, body colored sidepipes, and a custom rear window cut look with a pop-out rear window? I saw you traveling on RT113 North around 7:30-8:00pm around Georgetown, Milford area - probably coming from the DE beach area.
I stayed behind you for a while but I was in the wife's car and not the Vette.

I was just curious if it was anyone on here that I had seen.

"BAC"? "Blood Alcohol Content"? :L

pretty funny Ken
:)

actually, the letters BAC went vertical on the plate than were followed by the numbers 0014.
Going vertical usually means some type of special issue plates but I wasn't able to read what kind of special issue as the very borders of the plates were covered up with a licenceplate frame.

BAC = Bel Air Corvette Club. Not sure who that is though. Guy

cool, thanks for the info.
if you are part of that club Guy, this Vette would be impossible to miss with that rear hatch area custom treatment and bodycolored sidepipes plus the custom wheels.
and even though it was dark out, it sure didn't look like a stock green color but i can't swear on that one - hard to tell true colors by headlight illumination.

Yes I am in the club, I have #19. I think I know who that is but I think it is more of a blueish color. Not sure. Guy

well, it looked greenish color but like i said, in only headlight illumination I could have been seeing it wrong.

well, in either case it's not important - I was just curious if it was anyone from here on CAC that I had been following.

Cool post Barry. When I first read it I didn't think it would go anywhere.

Funny thing, I saw a nice red C4 today in the Portland area, just caught it as it passed me going the other way, tried to get a wave off but way late, don't know if they were engaged or not, but they had red sidepipes as well. Looked :cool Never seen another C4 with them. Unfortunately, couldn't even hear them by the time I noticed the car :(

Looking goog Ken!

i've only seen sidepipes on one other C4 and that was a Rudy colored one that was for sale. The car also had a lot of additional modded bodywork so I had thought they were some custom thing at the time.

damn, they look good Ken!
:cool
why did you take them off? was it a clearance issue or other reasons?

I guess i'm partial to sidepipes - most especially on midyears like mine and also on early C3's.
I think they look good on the C4's also and since it's so rare seeing a C4 with pipes really makes it stand out.

Wow Ken :cool :w I don't recall seeing that pic before. That seems like an awfully expensive and great looking mod to get rid of. Did you wear em out? What was the resonance like with those?

Believe me, I hated to have to ditch 'em - I loved 'em too. :eyerole

There was no resonance of which to speak, with the stock L-98 and a cat, but when I built the 417-in motor, it was just too much for the sidepipes to handle. Even though I threw everything that the Side Effects package had to offer in the way of silencing devices, it was just too loud. It sounded like the glasspaks of yore.

Clearance was never an issue with those sidepipes. You did have to exercise caution when going over speed bumps, but if you hit, you only hit the jacking point extensions, not the bodywork or the pipes.

If you want to see more pictures of what the sidepipes consist of, visit Project Engine I and scroll down. :CAC
