ground wire

ok heres the problem i got. on my 81 vette when turn key on tach goes to 10 and no power to anything. when i hook jumper cable to ground wire on batt and then to alltnater mount all gagues and power to everthing and starts. anyone know were might start to look to c were not grounding at

Should be a ground under one of the transmission bell housing bolts on the passenger side near the starter and if I remember correctly there is another on the drivers side.

Dash harness grounds on the driver's door hinge post. Difficult to reach with the dash in place.
