Here's the Link..

http://www.barrygrant.com/

His carbs are built on the Holley Design except they are a fined tuned version of the holleys. His products are excellent and well respected. But still a basic holley design.

I myself have not used or have experience with his products.. From what I understand .. If I were to change out my 850 for a BG .. the difference in performance would not justifie the cost.

Just my $.02 worth. :beer

Yup, VNV's correct. The BG is a rip-off of the Holley design. Go to an Edelbrock carb if you're dissatisfied with the Holley.

I can't argue that the old Holley's leak. They leak because people are not careful when they rebuild them - even Holley (which I personally think has the WORST customer service function out there....still living off the good old days). The problem is overtightening the plates, in my experience. Just using a big piece of emory cloth and a square piece of plate glass solves the problem. No milling machine, nothing fancy. Just the basics

Sad

This subject of carbs brings up an interesting question I've had:

Are there are data/tests to show the effect of using an edelbrock carb versus a Holley/Clone carb on an engine putting out between 450-550 hp?

I too have thought about the Edelbrock carb and am wondering if a significant horsepower loss would be seen and whether or not the cfm ratings of each carb are comparable.

Thanks,
Doug

Barry,
I know how you feel. What with the Corvette paintjob last spring and the new house and its updates last fall, my savings account is not as healthy as it once was.

Mike,
The Holley air cleaner base does not clear the Edelbrock electric choke. The pic shows the Edelbrock base I used. You will note some Bubba mods to the crankcase vent rubber tubing but that functions well. The 14" filter and the GM/Holley top need not be changed.

Thanks Paul.

That's an interesting solution for the crankcase vent. That was the one thing I was concerned about.

Mike
