This may seem like a really dumb situation, but I was hurt at work a while ago and have developed arthritis in my knees.

My 86 coupe seems to have an extremely hard throttle, meaning that after I drive it a few days my right knee hurts from keeping constant high foot pressure on the gas pedal. Also, I often do some jack rabbit starts unintentionally, as I press on the gas and then it just goes....

I checked the routing of the throttle cable and it seems fine...when I operate the throttle body by hand it take a bit of effort, so I think that is the culprit.

Can the return spring be unwound a turn to relieve the pressure, or ????????? Thanks

Wow, that must be some hard throttle. I broke my knee badly on a motorcycle 5 years ago resulting in plates, pins, screws etc and a permanent handicap. My car has cruise which didn't work when I bought the car and haven't bothered to fix as I kind of enjoy the foot-on-throttle feel. I would find the cause for the stiff throttle if I were you, mine isn't that stiff. (my throttle!)
Do a search at the top on this subject...

i dont know but... the throttle on my c4 is pretty stiff too but thats just the way they are, if it was stiff enough to give you arthritis then thats a problem, you shouldnt be struggling to push the pedal down, it should just feel a little resistance..
