All right. This sucks. It been hard has hell to put my car into gear lately... mainly 1st and 2nd... and reverse? forget it. The clutch seems to give little pressure when pressed. I found that pumping the clutch a few times solves this problem but i have to do it frequently. What could be the problem? Better yet... how much is it gonna cost to fix? I have an 85' 4+3 manual trans.
Thanks,

Low hydraulic fluid in the slave or master. Possibly leaking and needing replacement. :(

I agree........check under car and behind drivers side carpeting for fluid.....

R&R clutch master & slave, Redline MTL in tranny.

It can also be a sign that the clutch disc is about gone. Hydraulic clutches are not adjustable so when the disc surface wears down, the is no way to compensate for the additional pedal travel so the clutch disc can disengage.

Is there a grinding noise when trying to select Reverse? That's pretty much a sure sign that the clutch is worn. Reverse is not syncronized so there is nothing to stop the gears from turning as you engage Reverse.

I had this same symption in my 87. The clutch master reservoir was full and no signs of leaks. I had the system bled twice with a total flush of the fluid each time and no change. So I had the clutch done and when we pulled the clutch assembly, the disc surface was just about gone.
