I have just finished painting the hardtop for the 1961. I have a club Corvette show this weekend and I would like the opinion of the forum on whether to show the 61 with the top on or off.

Thanks Ray

I like them with the top on....probably not as comfortable with it off....but I think they are better looking that way......

from a "looks" perspective I think it looks best with the hardtop on. The tops seems to accent the lines of the car a bit better, especially where the rear edges of the top seems to taper down and flow into the curve of the top of the rear fender. Maybe it's just me but i think the top makes the flowing lines of the car more pronounced.

on the other hand, if you have beautiful weather that day going topless would have to be more fun.

just my $.02

Top on my 2 cents.......

Love your Vette AWESOME :cool

Top on everyone loves convert, but it's looks great with top on. my 2c's

:w

You can't go wrong whichever way you decide!

Do you enjoy driving the car with the top on? On my 1957 I always felt like I was tilting my head. The car looked great with the top on, but I was uncomfortable. I am not a tall man but my head did touch the lid. By the way, the car looks GREAT either way. I am a sucker for straight axels. oWEN

For show I like the top on. Any of us that have spent any time in the summer driving with the top on know how hot it can get but you are just talking driving to the show and home.

I like to drive the car with the top down and I have no problem with comfort other than the heat when I have the top on. I was just wondering what the other members felt was the best way to show the car. This will be the first show since restoration and I have never shown it with the top on.

Thanks Ray

Car Show

Thanks to for all the responses to my question. The show is now completed and I thought I would share a few pictures from this week ends Corvette show.

Nice show. Your car looks fantastic. The others too. Is the red one a '59 or a '60?

Your car looks great,You should be very proud

Larry, it looks like it was in a shopping mall.
Our corvette club is having one of our two annual mall shows this coming weekend and i'm hoping Baby will be ready in time for it.
Inside the mall the cars always look great because the lights really make the cars shine - can't imagine how nice Baby could look under those lights with the new paint. :)

I like them best with the hardtop on. Just remember, all 61`s are actually roadsters and not everyone has the hardtop option to be able to display them.

Hi! Tom

The red Vette is an original 59 fulie. What a great car, I drool every time I see it.

Hi!

Larry thanks for the compliment and Barry you hit it on the nose. The show was in an up-scale shopping mall. I was concerned about having to leave you car there for two days & nights, but with the thunder storms and rain we had I was lucky it was an in door show. There were about 34 Corvettes spread over the mall.
