Has anyone had the Dealer turn off the Service LTPWS light off?

My LTPWS must have a wanky tire sensor and the light keeps coming on. I noticed in the manual it says the light can be turned off if a sensor failure happens, Has any one had this done? I don't have run flats on my 96 so I really dont need the darn thing anyway.

My mind will not wrap around the LTPWS light. Mine used to come on whenever I drove around town at low speed, as the owners manual says it will, and it I hit a large bump at any speed under 50MPH.

On the last tire change I swapped out a wheel that looked like crap. The new, well new for me but secondhand, did not have a sensor. Since tire changes and balancing cost me nothing, I decided to remove the sensor from the other wheel. Current setup, front wheels have sensors, rear wheels do not.

Since the tire change the LTPWS never comes on!!! Why not? :hb :hb :hb

I say, if the light bothers you, remove it…anybody want to buy a sensor?
:v

Spanishvette,

what year sensor? I have a 92 with the sensor strapped to the wheel. The plastic housing broke on one I dont need the electronics, just the plastic housing

I think they have to have a matching freq. code to work.

LTPWS lite comes on

Mine started coming on after I took the run-flats off. The dealer ended up replacing three sensors and the module in the dash. The darn lite still was coming on!

I had already the clear plastic piece from MAD that covers the information panel with the Chevy logo. So, I put a piece of electrical tape over the area of the lite. Voila! I cannot see the lite, so I do not care if the bulb comes on.

I still have the system working, so I still know when a tire is low.

The early cars with the sensor will not throw a code if the sensors are not present. You can remove all 4 and throw them away and not worry..... The computer doesn't have to receive a frequency code.

However on the 93 cars (I think that is the year cutoff) the sensor light would go off if you removed any sensor and did not replace it. The computer expects it to be there.

This is 100% correct this is why the light has the turn off feature. This is in fact the reason the light is coming on its not getting the signal from one of the sensors.

LTPWS lite comes on

I own the 1996 two volume set of the Chevy Corvette Service Manual. I have read practically every page of the gosh darn book! I also heard that there was a turn-on-off feature for the LTWPS lite. I cannot find any mention of that anywhere.

I talked to Gordon Killebrew in person, about this problem. He maintains that one of the sensors is not functioning. He also suggested that I confirm that the later model sensor has been installed in my car. He told me the part number, but of course I have forgotten. My car has the later model sensors.

A big part of this problem is the fact that the system is wireless. There are no wires or harnesses to check.

At any rate, I almost forgot that my lite comes on. Except for finding these questions on this site!

Good luck to you!
