Have they fixed the clutch slave problem?

2 years back, when I replaced the last clutch slave (lasted less than 10K mi) There was discussion that some slave cylinders had been assembled with the seal in backwards causing early failure (guess which one I got?ad). Is ordering one still a crap shoot or does someone sell correctly assembled slaves?

Last spring I picked a Wagner at the local parts store. Hasn't missed a beat. Price wasn't to bad either.

Interestingly, about a year ago on 29 March 08, Bill Boudreau posted to the ZR1Net mail list...

For all of you ZF 6-speed owner/operators, it looks like we are finally in
the clear (after 36 months) regarding quality assurance of NOS GM Clutch
Hydraulic System Actuator (slave) cylinders (GM P/N 12509313). NOTE: Just
make sure the GM box hasn't been opened still having factory sealed ends.

Judging from the last six samples of C4 slave cylinders (GM P/N 12509313)
that we've gone through, all were found to be assembled correctly with seals
undamaged and installed in the correct direction.

Well, it's been almost a year since she was wheels up in the garage (almost a record!) I'll feel better using an OEM on the replacement.

I had issues getting a slave cylinder that had the correct thread on the hydrolic line. I bought one from NAPA, have had no problems, over a year now
