I replaced the hubs, Ujoints, brakes, and shocks on my 86 coupe. Everything was going well, and I have one side completely finished. When I installed the spindle into the new rear hub on the driver's side, I slid the spindle in as far as I could and then drew it in by tightening the spindle bolt.
I was attempting the same technique on the passanger's side, and the spindle nut threads stripped....ouch!!!. A couple of the outer spindle threads are burred, but I think I can save them. I ordered a new spindle nut from Chevy and it will take a couple of days to get here....
In the meantime, am I dooing something wrong??? The new hubs are Timkin, and match up perfectly. I did notice that there was a thin film of rust on the spindle splines, but I wiped it off with a rag....do I need to grease it or lube it with someething or ????? HELP
