Hi,

I have to take my 81 for it`s annual inspection shortly but the headlights have a mind of there own and some times don`t go up or only one goes up. Obviously the testing guy will not be inpressed.

Can the lights be made to stay in the open position even when they are turned off, usually when I start the engine again they will go down.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

J.

John, I'm sure there is an over-ride somewhere to keep them up all the time. My '87 has a knob for doing that, I just don't know where your's is. ;)

:) John, there is a pull down knob under the dash by the steering column. Look carefully for it since these knobs can be easily broken off and in may cases have been. Once your lights are on and up pull this knob down and the headlights will stay up until up push the knob back up, with the engine running of course, needs vacuum.

John,
Tomlin is exactly correct. It's not much of a knob, kind of a thin rod that pulls straight down from the underside of the dash.
