A friend of mine has a C5 (1999?) and had the headlight gear strip out on him (the plastic one) and he replaced it with the brass replacement gear. Now the problem is he turns on the headlights and the driver's side *sometimes* comes up; maybe 30% of the time. If you pop the hood and twist the knob, it will come up. It appears to be "free wheeling" when it closes, and apparently tightens so much that it can't open the next time.
Does anyone have any clues why this is happening? I'm probably going to help him disassemble it and see if we can figure it out..
