I have a problem with my Corvette that just started tonight.

When the lights retract/fold what ever you like to call it, I hear a very loud noise as if the motor on the lights are still running.

Any idea what in the world this can be?

I just forked over money to the dealership to fix the wiper motor so if this is something I can fix myself (I am ok working on cars) then please let me know, giving money to dealers is against my religion if I can do the job myself.

HI there,
This would be your door actuator gear that is stripped out.
Not uncommon, and not that hard to fix.
You will need a Posidriv 2, and a couple of 10mm wrenches.
The motor will probably cost around $120 if memory serves.

Ok, can you explain how it's done?

This would be the first time I have ever had to do this so I am clueless but willing to try.

Thanks

Hi there,
If you reference the diagram below, you will see that there is just 3 fasteners that hold the motor to the bracket, and the one nut that holds the arm to the motor.
You will NOT see the washers in this picture, as this is taken from a TSB.

Do you get paid for your work here? I can arrange a beer or two ;)

Thanks for the help, I will buy the motor and hop to it as soon as I can

Nope, but I have a good time, and I never have to buy a cup of coffee.
Please let us know how it turned out, c4c5:hb
