Anyone swapped out the crappy stock headlights for Hella halogens or anything like that? What about diamond cut or blue halogens??? Any problem with going up in wattage with the halogens?? I had a Dodge Stratus with better stock lighting than my pretty baby...:eek

Everyone is loving the Sylvania Silverstars. They claim they are substantially better!

I put in a set of Hellas. They sure made a difference in my 89. I also installed a set of LED tail lights. They look good too! Check out the price of the headlights from Summitt racing. They were very reasonable both in the price of the lights and shipping charges. Delivery was fast at no extra cost!

I just put Silverstars on my 93 and WHOA what a difference!!
]The car had it's original plastic ones and were "cloudy" and hazed yellow.. New ones are glass and are NICE :beer

I have the Hella lamp housings in the Vette but I use the APC Xenon bulbs. They are 100w low and 130w high. The Hella-provided H4 bulb is not much better than stock lighting.

I do run the SilverStars in my 99 Silverado and they do a great job. The SilverStars are slightly lower wattage than the APC's but the color temperature is the same as the APC bulbs (4000 degrees Kelvin) Both of these bulbs are a bright white light, not the blue tint you see in the POS "Cool Blues" which is just a blue coated halogen bulb or the very expensive HID lighting systems.

The Hella lenses are the big reason I upgraded the Vette. The glass lens is cut to provide sort of a "flat top" on the low beam. This is a big help when driving in fog, rain or even snow. Not that I drive my Vette in any of that:D This is a European design that has been around for years. After two years, the headlamp motors and bushing are still in great shape. As far as current draw, I have never blown a fuse with the APC bulbs.

Just make sure you adjust the headlights after installing your upgrade.

blue lighting is not good easy on human eye.... if you look at expensive HID lighting, they look somewhat blue when you look into the light, but the light they cast is super bright white, not blue.... those blue lights you find on ebay are for wannabes.

so, go with what the others have suggested, they will work well, and you will be able to see better.

I got my lights from Daniel Stern's Lighting. I don't have his web page address but just do a search on the name and you will find it.
He sells CIEBE European lamps. Look at his info, I bought into it.
I installed the lamps a relay kit, new wiring and overwatt 100/130 bulbs. What a HUGE difference. If you drive a lot a night it is worth it. Now I see stuff and drive around it, not just see it in time to run over it.
The only thing I would do different is use circuit breakers instead of fuses on the circuits.
Nobody ever flashes there lights at me since the Ciebe's light up the road not the sky.
He will not sell you the overwatt bulbs without a relay kit. After I rewired everything with 12ga wire to the headlights and 8ga for power to the relays I checked the current draw and found the headlights draw over 18amps on low beam.
For the time and money I have in them I would do it again. It makes a difference in driver fatigue for me on a long trip at night.
Anyone have any questions about the wiring just let me know.

I have the APC Xenon Plasma bulbs in my Hella headlamp units. I love them and will never drive another car with "normal" headlights again.

I drive many miles at night and long distance lighting was a major factor for me. :)

Hellas only way to go.:_rock

I got the Sylvania Bright Whites and they are great...inexpensive and great light!!!
