Replacing 74 headlight switch. Manual says to lower steering column to remove instr. cluster, and refers back to steering section. Steering section only discusses steering column removal - not "lowering". Is this as simple as dropping the bracket at dash and the bracket at firewall, and slightly lowering the column and wheel towards the seat????

Pretty much. trick is you don't have to completely remove that left dash pad. Take all the screws out and gently pull and the panel will move far enough to get to the headlight switch. Be careful- remember this stuff is 30+ years old and brittle. The bezel on the headlight switch that says "Lights" is real easy to break.

A tip>> when you take the 3 screws out across the top, look at the clips on the top dash pad before you push the face pad back in- the J-nuts tend to fall off. Usual trick is they fall off, you don't see them, and the screws fall out.
