No matter what I do, as soon as I put my Vette in gear the headlights open. What causes this and how can I make them operate only when the headlight switch is switched on?
Headlights always open and on.

What you're describing sounds a bit like the Twilight Sentinel being on; but I don't recall what year that feature became available (my '98 Owner's Manual doesn't mention it, but my '04 manual does). If yours is equipped, check the setting by consulting your Owner's Manual on the DIC Options settings; if you turn off the Twilight Sentinel entirely, the headlights will only operate when you flip the switch.
