Okay, so I was replacing a headlight and I messed up and unscrewed the screws that adjust your beam. Anyway, now the light isn't secure in there. I can't see anything I'm missing, but the only way to keep it feeling tight is to screw the adjuster screws in all the way, causing the beam to point to the side.

Ring any bells to anyone? ;shrug

Youll have to remove the headlite cover $ see what happened, Its really not that tough to do, sounds like something fell apart when you SCREWED or UNSCREWED- up;LOL

Okay, I double goofed now. :cry

I took the other one apart to see if I could see something I'm missing on the other. Shut up! It sounded like a good idea at the time! :(

Now they both do it. What's wrong here (besides me)????

Any chance someone has a technical drawing or something similar of the assembly. I can't see anything extra I'm missing.

Ugh.

I don't recall there being anything difficult but I never had to remove the adjusting screws to remove my headlight. I just checked and your owners manual does have the proper procedure (pg 6-38), let me know if you want me to type it out for you (assuming you don't have the manual).

The sad part is that I was going by the manual. This was completely "user error" on my behalf. I found a breakdown of the assembly in the Ecklar's catalog and apparently there is a spring back there too. I'm taking them apart again in a little while to see if I can't make heads or tails out of the situation. Thanks!

That was exactly the problem, Len. I didn't even see those springs when I screwed it up the first time. I was over at the folks' house last night and my dad took a look at it and noticed the springs. I had seen them in a schematic that Corvette America has in their catalog, but I couldn't tell where they latched on. My dad (and his mountain of experience) noticed some metal scrapes on the headlight enclosure where they springs were attached. They weren't too bad when we hooked them around a screwdriver and slowly pulled them up and over the headlamp box. In the end, all is well again in headlamp country!

I have one more to chalk up to a learning experience.

Thanks again to everyone for the help!! :beer
