I took my '99 A4 in to Tom Bannen Chevrolet in Nashville TN for the column lock recall. Instead of doing the somewhat PITA A4 fix, the idiots simply reprogrammed my PCM as they do for an MN6. Well this overwrote my Hypertech programming and rendered the programmer useless. I was POed! To make a long story short, the service manager reimbursed me for the programmer, and I took my car to Carl Black Chevrolet for the correct fix. I did file a complaint with GM -- for all the good that would do!

Oh, and the service manager said they had done the recall on a lot of Corvettes -- but he had no way of knowing which cars were A4s, so he wouldn't be able to contact those owners in order to correct the recall fix.

HI there,
A4 is a disable but not a reprogram.
M6 is a reprogram.
And the rest is BS, yes, you can tell exactly how much and many have the A4, it is in the VISS that your dealership has.
Someone could be in the midst of a very big lawsuit if they are caught.
This is a safety liability issue.
