hello. can somebody show me what the back peice, of the heatshield that goes over the header on the dirvers side, looks like. i have the front piece but do not have the back peices that fasten it to the header. if somebody has a pic of this i would like to see it. i think they are strips and i could just cut them from sheet. maybe someone has them and would be willing to part with em.;help

thank you. jj

You're right, they are just two round metal strips. Sorry no pictures.

Peter is correct as well. There are two metal straps (aluminum) keeping the "stove covers" on. Should be easy to manufacture.

Don't mean to hijack the thread or anything but you guys got me looking at my headers now. These 81 headers look pretty decent, never realized the header style on the 81s because heat shields block it. Just got the 81 out of storage and noticed not only are the A.I.R. tubes broken off on the passenger side but the back part of the heat shield is missing too. Anyone know where to locate one? Also I am eventually going to remove the headers and patch up the A.I.R. tubes but till I locate one (and can get to it) I assume removing all of the heat shields could increase the under hood temperature? They kind of look stupid with nothing attached to them and the back piece missing; my emissions stuff was all removed over 10 years ago before I bought it.

I think I still have all of the heat shield pieces I took off the ones I used on my stepside. I won't be using them for anything. Our '81 has all of this stuff on it. They are used but usable. Not bent up or anything.

Interested?

Thank you. very nice of you to offer, i appreciate it allthough i cut the back pieces i needed out of sheet metal. they seem to be harder to get than i thought. hold on to them somebody will need them.

That's good to hear. They looked fairly simple to make.
