Help! Heater not work

English Guy, Welcome to CAC. Do you have the digital or manual setup? If digital, try turning the heat setting all the way up. This overrides sensor control.

Hi TedC Thanks for the welcome and the advice.I put the heating(digital)on full blast but still no luck,Ithen unplugged the two firewall hoses and there was no water in them!I did'nt think it was an airlock because the hoses were hot.Oh well at least I now know why i've felt like I have been driving across siberia with the roof down!Cheers

In your first post, you said they were hot. Hot with air?

Must be air/steam from hot water below airlock.Engine temp 195 and water pipes hot even without water in them. Not sure best way to get all air out of cooling system.

This is how I did it for my C3:

To get air out of the cooling system:
1) turn heater on
2) remove radiator cap
3) start car
4) run until thermostat opens
5) Watch fluid level in the radiator (ignore the reservoir). Keep the level up to the top of the radiator.
6) put the radiator cap back on
7) Fill the reservoir to the full-hot line.

If you want it warm up faster, you can pull the fuse for the electric fans. I've also put cardboard in front of the radiator to restrict air flow.

With a digital setup, you may have to start the car before you turn on the heater.

That should get all of the air out. Assuming that there is nothing blocking water flow.

Amazing, I didn't think the hoses would get that warm without coolant flowing. With the hoses off the heater core you can back and forward flush it. I can confirm that the steps minfridge outlines does work well on the L98.
