Helms manual

The time is here I need to buy a Helms manual for my 90 vette. The question I have is where is the best place to buy one. The Helmes site? Is there another place that they can be purchased cheeper ? I want the full set so there is nothing left to chance when I work on this high tech car.
Any sugestions- expreriences that you can share would be appreciated.

I purchased a great manual from Ebay. Just go there and do a search. Helms has good manuals as well. You could also post in the C4 wanted section.

www.helminc.com Brand new in the wrapper. C4 manuals are two-manual sets so you are sure of getting both from Helm with no missing pages, no dirty handprints or rips and tears.

The Helm manuals are the red cover versions. Manual with white covers are the preliminary manuals that were sent out to dealerships for evaluation and updating so the red cover "production" manuals could be printed with all of the needed information.

You should know that the "Helms" manual is the GM Manual.

Go to ebay, search 'Corvette GM Manual 19xx'.

I have a set of two blue/white cover manuals from Helms for my '66 (one 'service' and the other 'overhaul' for all Chevy's) and a red cover two volume set for my '95 (one 'driveability' and the other for everything else for just the Corvette). Don't know when they changed colors or began making books for specific models.

So what is a blue cover manual?

The red colored manuals are only for sale in states that voted for George Bush. The blue manuals are sold in states that voted for John Kerry. As you might expect, the red manuals are more remedial than the blue ones.:L

Seems that the Red covers are used for the C4 and later. The Blue was what was being used for most of the earlier models. My '73 manuals are Blue. My 90 and my 04 manuals are Red. Not sure when they changed from Blue to Red but maybe with the changeover to C4 production????

Shops usually get the blue, tabbed version of the same manual as the white Helms manuals.

OK so I want the Red manuals [ I live in a red state] those have the best coverage ? Now the question is, new or used. The new is going to get fingerprints on it, no avoiding that . The only issue with used is that there could be pages missing, dependent on the honesty of the seller. Those of you that bought used, was the price less than half of the new ? If now I think I would opp for the new to be sure no pages are missing. You just KNOW the page that is missing is the one you will need.:eyerole Also the new will be the same price whether I buy from Helms or through another retailer ?

The 90 manuals that I sold last week on ebay sold for $40.00. Great deal for the buyer. They were smudged but not torn and NO pages missing.
