It has been raining for almost a week straight and today the sun came out for a while so I decided to take my corvette for a drive. Ever since my carport collapsed Ive kept it under a cloth cover, then a tarp, when the weather was poor. So it has been under the tarp since friday, and today being wensday. When I pull the cover and tarp off there is a giant blotch on my hood! Further investigation reveals that the clearcoat is completely gone in this spot, down to the paint, you can even feel and see the bear fiberglass!!!! What would cause this? Simple moisture?? Ive left it under the tarp for much longer during the long winter months and nothing like this has happened before.. I cannot afford a new paintjob, so what can I do to reseal it? I have "clearcoat sealer" that I got in a paint touch up kit, is this good enough? What products are recomended? Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated since my car now has a giant poka-dot on the hood cowl.
