Many in this group have suggested adjusting the distributor to "LARS" specs.

I have found a distributor already adjusted to 36 degrees total mechanical advance & 52 degrees with vacuum.

Its easier for me to buy this distributor outright then to find the instructions and do it my self.

I have tried to contact LARS himself with no reply.

I think he charges $40 for the instructions.
Parts for the upgrade are $13.

I can get the instructions and adjusted distributor for $75 w/ shipping.

What do you guys think?

Buy it for $75 or get the instructions & parts for $53

You're going to have to adjust the new one to your car anyway, so you would be better off to buy the parts, do your own, and LEARN! It's not that hard and Lars' kit will help you do it right. Take a deeeeep breath, and jump in!

As for Lars, try again - he doesn't ignore people!

What kind of distributor is it? I have a Mallory in mine, mech advance, realatively simple, adjustable stops. I time it to 36-38 with advance applied (at rpm). Works good.

Mike Carter -- What kind of distributor is it?

The one currently on my 79 is the original HEI distributor.
The "LARS" distributor is from a 74 VETTE.

I emailed & PM him a while ago.

The kit is only $45. Me and a buddy installed a kit in about half an hour. But you really need a timing light with advance.

Lars does not ignore people. But his is a very busy person, so be patient.

Try him at v8fastcars@msn.com
