Drove my '94 vette last Monday. Ran very well. Tuesday morning, would not start. Kept turning over, but no start. Had it transported to the dealer($110.00). Dealership called two days later apologizing for the delay claiming they were waiting on their corvette "specialist" to look at it. Next day get a call telling me that they located the problem: Distributor. He stated that the water pump looked "fair". He told me they would replace the Distributor, new spark plugs, wires, replace water pump, and new fuel pump, and belts. Total: $3,068.00(Tax included). Does that price sound about right? He stated that I was really paying for the parts on the water pump and fuel pump and labor was on them. I gave them the go ahead, but it's been two days and they have not started working on it yet(Still waiting on the "specialist" to show up). If the price is a good or fair deal, I can wait a little longer. If not, I will have it towed back to the house and find someone else. Thanks for the advice.

Here's some pricing. Water pump looks fair. :rotfl

GM rebuilt optispark 19212294 Dealer price $555 Rock Auto price for same $444 + $75 core charge.
GM water pump Delco 251-554 Dealer price $292 Rock Auto price for same $217
GM fuel pump EP376 Dealer price $109 Rock Auto price for same $73

You need to add shipping cost for Rock Auto parts but they don't charge sales tax for most
states. The only down side is if the parts are in different warehouses they charge individual shipping
costs which can add up. They always have a 5% discount code. Google and you will find the current
discount code.

Dayco serpentine belt Rock Auto 10.00
AirTex fuel pump sock Rock Auto 5.00
Generic spark plug wires Rock Auto $25.00
2 Gallons Anitfreeze $24.00
Spark plugs $20.00

1 jar of Vaseline. $2000.00

Remember the Service Writer probably gets a commission for any up sales. ;)

If the problem is no spark why are they changing the fuel pump?
If the problem is no fuel pressure why are they changing the water pump and optispark?

Thanks for the cost break down. Towed from dealer to local vette shop. Showed him the cost break down from you. He agreed. The Green machine will be back on the road this Friday for a little over half the dealers cost. Thanks again!!!
