wow, that is very kind of you, but I am kinda far away from you, if you're in Long Island... I am in Fishkill (Dutchess County)...probably around 2 hours from you...but if you're ever going to be in the area in the near future...:D that woud be awesome!

We're supposed to get more snow tomorow, but saturday is supposed to be nice, I will probably take the battery out then and take it to Autozone, just to rule it out, if nothing else...

This really sucks, looks like I lost the buyer, haven't heard from him since last Saturday...:cry

I hope the AutoZone does a proper test for you. Sears never had a clue, back in the day..... Testing under load, whether a motor, a battery or an alternator is the only true way to test 'em. it may demand a visit to an electrical specialty shop.

Can you rap the starter with a hammer to see if it is engaged to the flywheel? if so, it may click back in place, which speaks of shimming, as mentioned.

i will probably take the starter out over the weekend again also, maybe autozone can test that under a load as well... while i have it out, i will try to move the flywheel w/ a crowbar, just to be sure that it isn't seized...God, i hope it isn't !

I have broken the crankshaft bolt due to a tight engine. It's not all that easy to reach, anyway. Not to alarm you, but, if you're levering the flywheel, don't break a tooth on it! A larger screwdriver may work better and be less likely to cause breakage.

I rather doubt the engine is seized. More likely, due to recent work, there is an issue with the starter/solenoid/wiring, either the install or the unit itself.

Most rebuilts are really only partials, as only the worn parts are replaced. So if it called for brushes, the rebuilt may have old bushings, etc. Se habla espanol? ala Mexico? Better to have a reputable rebuilder redo the entire unit with all new 'wear' parts OR get a remanufactured replacement.

Also, ensure that your wires (including the large ground wire near the starter) are well attached with CLEAN, bare metal and not internally resisting. An ohmmeter, attached between the ends of the power and ground cable ends, should read a voltage drop of less than one volt. More than that means your battery cannot deliver full juice to the starter.
