Arrrrgghh. I've pulled the SR plenum off AGAIN because I appear to have a fuel leak at the #4 injector. When the pump pressurizes the fuel line, I get a small puddle of fuel right below the injector on the manifold. I cannot, however, tell if it's coming down from the rail (ie, the C-lock came loose) or up from the port (ie, bad gasket, which is brand new...).

Any suggestions or simple ways to look? To take out the fuel rail is a major hassle with the SR runners, so I'm trying to avoid having to do that.

Pull it apart and replace all the o rings and put it back to gether.

No short cut on this one.:cry

But all the O-rings are brand new... just had all the injectors rebuilt and they have about 50 miles on them. Surely you can't believe they're bad already?

Rich, you evidently didn't see my last episode with my guardian angel, eh?

Ya know, I had a guardian angel sittin' on my shoulder again today. When I first turned that key and had fuel spraying everywhere, I also had a cigarette burning in my lips; I had just lit the cigarette before attempting to start it. Needless to say I was very lucky!

Also of note: the stock fuel pump certainly wouldn't meet my current requirements for fuel supply. Before checking after each attempt to find and fix the leak, I pulled the fuse for the Bosch racing pump and just relied on the stock in-tank pump to pressure up the system. That pump barely allowed a trickle from the leak, whereas with the Bosch pump on it was spraying leak a broken fire hydrant! My engine drinks a lot of fuel (45 lbs-hr injectors), but what it doesn't need obviously returns to the tank.
Good luck and take your time! I did and it still went wrong!! :hb

At least I didn't burn it down. :L

Oh, I saw that post all right... I don't smoke, and one fire extinguisher (A/B/C) is hanging on the wall of the garage while another is mounted to a bracket under the driver's seat...

I JUST WANT TO DRIVE THE #$*(&%#$)&* THING!!!! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK???

Sorry. Needed to vent. Won't happen again.

Logic tells me that if you onlt have 50 miles onit since they were rebuilt/replaced, then the one inquestion was not installed properly. I would guess that the O-rings may be good, but got cockeyed when installed. If all the others eem fine, I say the installation is the problem...but you will have to yank it all off and find out. As hot as these things run, gas on the head is a killer!

Sorry, you have to do all of them no matter what and if you can get it, I would use dowel 111 or 777 syc grease or it will do it again. When they are pushed together if you put to much grease on them the grease builds presure and blows them out ,just like a u-joint if you grease it before you put the u-joint in place, it will never fit.You need a very light grease and not thick. If you leave the o-rings out for a day they have a memory and will return to the right size but if you are in a hurry get new.:w

I put new rings on mine no problem, I wet my figers with fresh engine oil and rubbed a O-ring between my fingers, they slid right on and sealed well too.

Hey Rich, can you tell if it is coming from the tubes that cross from rail to rail.
Probly just the one o-ring went on funny or any dirt in there might cause a leak.
