I can't believe this. I have lost the keys and fob to my vette. I haven't had spares made yet. I was working on the Vette and the F%$king PKE was locking and unlocking... So I set the keys on my wifes convertible top, and said to myself, " Don't forget to get those off". It was very late and I think I forgot to get the damn things off the roof of her car. Today I can't find the keys anywhere.... I'm so mad at myself right now.

Please tell me I can take my VIN to a dealership, prove I own the car, pay an outrageous price, and get new keys.

The car is locked... wonderful PKE. I will never use that damn thing again. I would really appreciate some help.

Can I dealership make/order me replacement keys?

I think I can buy a fob off the internet and program it myself.

What is my best bet?

I can't believe I did this.... thanks

You could probably check e-bay for a FOB.

GMparts direct has en for about 90 bucks as does Superior Chevrolet. Talk toChris May at Superior, ph. 800728-8267.

If you belong to triple A they will make a duplicate of your door key (plastic) that you carry in your wallet. At least you'll be able to get in the car.

Call the dealership first to find out what you need.

Thanks for the information. I am really worried about the resistor in the ignition key. Does anyone know how to determine my resistor value if I don't have the key. I am really worried about getting the value.

I thought I read that you could get the dash to display the resistor code. Does anyone know about this?

ten years

i lost my keys at home depot same crap. the dealer can get your keycode off the vin number but will have to request the vats code which is 1-14 on my `90. this is where you got lucky the dealer only goes back 10 years. for me i was screwed i had to do the variable resistor thing from radio shack and dial it in with each value until the car started by the way mine turned out to be code 12. good luck.

I was able to take a few things from several of the posts on this site and several things from the web, and find my resistance, translate it, and have new keys made. I am in a class this month, but I will write up the procedure and post some pictures in August. If for some reason someone needs instructions sooner, just post here, and I will get the email. Thanks for all the help.
