Help me select a new cam,please

I need help selecting a new cam and have no idea where to start.
basics: Installed a new GM crate stock motor last year, now has less than 1000 miles on the exchange. The paperwork with the new crate said it has 225-250 hp as is, I am looking for a lil more response and that classic lope at idle. Will install headers with the new cam, and true dual exh. The tranny is an auto.
I am ignorant in selecting cams and need someone to tell me what to get, and where is the best price. Not looking to peak out the engine, just something a lil more responsive than stock and has a mild lope to it without any idle problems or major changes to the engine, such as crank/head/oil pump upgrades. Please be specific in what to get (manufacturer,lift,etc,etc....)

Try a Comp Cams cs xe262h-10, or for more lope, less throttle response: cs xe268h-10. Camshaft alone is less than $100 from summitracing.com

Cam selection

Hey Mike, i just built my stock motor and increased the horsepower to about 350HP. If you look at my posts (vette333) you see the laundry list of new parts i installed.
Heres the Cam shaft info:
Purchased from Jegs:
Cam Kit - includes, cam, lifters, assembly lube
Part #: 350-2102
Lift: .420"/.442"
Duration: 278 degrees/288 degrees
RPM range: Idle - 5500
Cost was roughly $130.00
This is a nice street cam that provides excellent throttle response.
My suggestion would be to call Jeg's and ask for technical services. Their tech guys are great, you tell them what you have and what you are hoping to achieve and they'll match up the right parts. I purchased everything from Jeg's and they provided tremendous customer service.
