my 58

We are having a terrible time installing the new soft top on my 58. This is the final step of restoration. The windshield frame doesn't seem to sit down on the body very well at the passenger corner return and that has thrown off the alignment between the windshield frame and door post. Not horrible but certainly not right. The resto shop broke the original windshield so we now have a replacement. We will be taking the windshield off and re installing soon. Any tips to correct the alignment issue?
We put the hardtop on and it fit the windows etc perfectly even with the windshield corner up about 1/4 inch. We then put the new soft top on and while it was a little hard to latch the first time it did not align with the windows at all. After about 15 minutes (while we studied the problem) the soft top actually pulled the windshield top stainless off the glass. Apparently too much stress but the top installer said it wasn't that tight.
Obviously we are baffled and very frustrated at this point so any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks
