Help please

i was workin on the interior of my car when i remembered i had to fix something in the engine compartment but when i tried to open my hood i heard a snap. I then tryed again to open my hood but there was no tension in the switch so my guess is that the cable broke. My question is is there any other way to get into the engine comartment on an 86 coupe???????
