Hi all;
Need your help and don't have time to search the forums to find my remedy. I recently posted a question on how to ground my fans to keep them on all time. In going through the route specified there, as I was running test lights and such trying to understand what wires were hot, etc (after removing the relays to expose the connectors), when I did what was suggested and connecting NOT the continual hot red wire and the ground but the other hot wires and the ground, something shorted and now I don't get power through that additional wire. It was as if I popped a fuse... but I couldn't find any fuses that govern the fans. I made the mistake of taking the car today, thinking the system would "reset" itself (which I know is a dumb assumption) and now the fans won't come on at all!!! I need to get the car home so I would like to try and identify a solution BEFORE driving it home today. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what happened? Is there another in-line fuse in the system somewhere? Any help would be appreciated!

You Blew a Fuse-able Link behind Battery!!:upthumbs

Is there one designated for the fans only? Everything else on the car seems to work fine... I did notice my radio time reset itself as if there was power loss to the entire car long enough to disconnect things....

Yes there is one just for Cooling Fan's!!! They are not marked you have to use a test light to find it, they will come off of a solenoid and run into wiring harness!! You will need to take off side fender to get to them!!:upthumbs

wire colors

If you are working on the 90 I may be able to help with which wire to hook to.
I have a 90 and have a switch hooked to the secondary fan.

There are 4 wires to the relay.
Red
Black with red stripe
Pink with black stripe
Green with black stripe

The pink wire is hot from ignition side of ignition switch to the relay coil , I believe. the relays are activated by grounding the coil.

Both relays have same basic colors with a bit of variation in the shade.
I hooked to the Green with black stripe to a switch, then a wire from the other side of the switch to ground. If you wire both fans to the same switch you may want to install a couple of diodes between the switch and the green wires to isolate the two circuits so the fans will work as designed when you have the switch off. If you don't do this both fans will come on whenever the main fan is called for. To hook up both fans you could also use a Double pole single throw [ DPST ] switch, but you would need to run a wire for each relay.

If you look closely there is a schematic on the relay.I think it shows the ground connection.
I only have the secondary fan hooked to the switch. This seems to be enough on 95 deg days in traffic.
Hope I didn't totally confuse you.
Good luck with finding the fus-able link.
