Help with 1981 Colors etc..

In the General C3 Forums is a discussion about Trim Tag Codes. This afternoon I put together this table from information I've gleaned over the past several years. I've talked to Gordon Killibrew (sp) and others during events at the NCM over the past 4 or 5 years.

bob ....the 'F' matches the jan build date for 'st louis' cars... as far as the '05'

i'm in the dark...unless the stamp didn't go all the way thru for a 'B' when they made the plate...but then it would be a 'bowling green' car!:confused

There is a silver blue 81 vette on www.cnv-corvettes.com. The description says the paint is new, but doesn't say if its been repainted or if its a new color altogether.

that shows as an 82 color not an 81!

Hey Bill.... I did a pencil burnishing of the plate and it's definitely a "05". January figures right. I'm always finding something "odd" with this car. Thanks for the reply.

Color Codes

KoolAid117, just looked into the 1981 Assembly Manual and there were some "special order" paint jobs available. one or two of them could have been what you're lookin at...such as Light Blue Metallic.

Bud , what you have is probably better than any color chart i've seen. For my rare purposes, the Assembly Manual serves me ok.
The color charts there are on pages 586-589. I'd be surprised if you don't already have this, but just in case. Luck, Jim

Thanks for information. Yep I have about everything on our 1981's that I could find.... except I don't have NCRS information. Bill (bill81vette) is in the process of getting his in NCRS condition for future NCRS inspection. He is a helping me see the light

I learn a bit more from everyone, and try to document everything I can. I believe we have a great Registry website and it's through the help of each member providing information that we can get better. There's a lot of knowledge out there.. Thanks
