OK I have a problem that I am sure someone can help with. This if for a 1993, long story short the car over heated really bad, none of the gages or lights told me this until the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Anyway I had to replace the water pump, temp sender (both) and all of the hoses, now there is a very slight miss while it is running, maybe a plug or wire. But the real problem I am asking about is if the cap to the coolant reservoir is off, engine cold, and you start the car the coolant will gush out of the reservoir, it didn’t do that before it over heated. Could it be that a head gasket could have blew, or maybe a crack somewhere. It will also blow a very small amount of water out the exhaust pipes. Any guesses or information would be greatly appreciated.

Why did you replace the water pump?

Sounds like you might have gotten coolant in the Opti,

Sounds also like a block in the line at the reservoir. Did it have GM Red Dex-Cool in it?

any signs of oil in the coolant?
or coolant in your oil?
You could do a pressure test on the cooling system to see what it shows. as well as a compression test on the cylinders.
