What is the electrical box that is behind the passenger side dash that is right behind the bread box

Right behind the bread box is the Theft Deterrent Decoder Module that reads the key pellet. I think the key pellet was first used on the 86 vehicles.

On 86-89 vehicles up under the dash to the right of the ECM behind the bread box area is the alarm module that arms or disarms the alarm. Not sure where that module is located on 84-85's.
