Has anyone out there ever thought of going to the boneyard, removing the crossbrace from a C4 vert, Then bolting it to a coupe. Are the bolt holes already in the frame of the car, or would there be drilling. In my opinion GM should have installed the piece on all of the C4s

The vert brace adds about 100 pounds and lowers the ground clearance an inch or so. Neither of these sound good to me. I just leave the roof on. Also, I have installed a harness bar that stiffens the chassis some.

There are a few places that sell braces that replace the roof and give that open air effect. You might want to look in to one of them. r-dracing.com comes to mind. Check out their "targa-brace". Also, they make a cross-brace similar to the stock verts x-brace. It may be better and lighter and you don't need to chase around junk yards for one.

I have a 91 Z-07 which is really stiff at both ends and twisty in the middle. First thing I added was R-DRacing's Cross-Frame which is a big X-brace. Reduced the body flex and the groung clearance. I then added their Camber Brace and S/T Frame (roll bar) with a resulting very stiff corvette. Evo School instructors comented on how tight and well handling my car is.
