some of you have asked about them and I have replied but thought it might be easier to have them in one spot!

Seems like maine has the cars I want for some reason - I saw the one in Greene Maine and that ends in the AM and the other is in Sanford ME, but 2 emails and no reply from the seller - maybe she is away> and no VIN listed...
here are the cars: I just got in so I don't know there may be some new ones listend today. I would like to find one within 200 miles of me max.

both cars look to be in decent shape. You can bet the seats are trashed on the white one, hence the brand new seat covers. the silver one looks like a more appealing car to me, but that's just my opinion. I saw quite a few cars in Maine when I was looking for mine too, but steered away from them due to rust issues. Midwest and New England cars just scare me. Just be careful on that cross fire injection system. I've heard horror stories about those. Just make sure if you do get one, that it's running right. when the owner tells you it just needs a "tune up", run, far, far away as fast as you can. the older carbureted cars are much easier to deal with when not running right.

I agree with Goertz as to NE cars. I wouldn't buy either without crawling under the cars or better yet getting them on a lift to check out the frame.

Is E-bay a good resource to find a Vette? I dont know , maybe its just me , but It seems to me that every time ,Ifindsomething that doesnt seem right , like alot of the dealers. It seems like they are looking to make a fast buck. Maybe its just the easy way of doing it. I dont think that it should be the sole resource when looking for a car though.
Guy , thats a good lookin Vette:)

Do you have a hankerin' to restore a car or are you just trying to stay within a budget? Take a long view that the budget gets dictated by the car and your psyche. I sold my 1st vette 25 years ago and last year I got the itch. I bought a car in very good condition--a 5 footer by normal standards and as I got into some off season projects I just kind of got on a roll and ended up pretty much doubling my investment to get the car that I wanted. Even after that it still called out to me for more cash as problems arise and this spring I probably put another $1000 into it to keep it running. Old cars have needs that none of us can imagine until it happens, even when you think you are finally "done". Rule of thumb is, unless your looking for an ultra collectable, its always cheaper to buy a restored car. Case in point, a shop I use in Ct had a loaded '74 vert for sale for $24,000 and it was in better shape than when new. The guy who traded it in had over $40,000 into it. Take your time. I'd email all the Vette clubs within 200 miles and see if any of their members have one for sale. A late shark in reasonably good condition should not be outrageously pricey. My .02 on the '82--that engine compartment is scary looking and I would hate to imagine what you can't see. My wife just bought a dress on ebay and for $55 it was a cheap bet. Buying a car that way takes nerves of steel.

E-bay is not a bad place to look for Corvettes and see what they are going for. I actually found mine on E-bay, however, I did not bid on it using E-bay. I ended up driving over two hours to go look at it, test it out, and then I made an offer and drove it home. I know there are others on here who have had success with E-bay, and I'm sure there are some that will never use or even mention that evil name of the big "E".

No matter what car you choose (or rather what car chooses you) make sure it is what you want. One of the great points about the Corvette is that there are soo many out there to choose from. Enjoy the hunt.

i agree that buying anything like a vette on ebay is almost impossible (and a bad decision) unless you can get to it and go over it yourself or you have a very reliable friend or other source local to the car who will go and physically inspect it for you. i tried to buy a couple of early C3 convertibles but the folks i had go look at them sent me loads of close up pictured that the sellers "failed" to include of some of the worst repair and hack jobs i have seen on a fiberglass car. one i was particularly interested in (about 4 hours from me, but only about 45 minutes from a good friend who rebuilds and resells BMWs) didn't have a crisp seam on it and had a hacked repair "patch" inside one of the door jams that any 3 or 4 year old could do. of course the several pictures on ebay didn't include any of those things.

a car from the NORTHEAST or MIDWEST???? my guess is there isn't one left (that isn't a complete frame up type) that doesn't have a somewhat (if not really) rusted frame. remember most likely any car that has lived it's life in that environment was a "daily driver" when it was new and was driven rain or shine, summer or winter, and they always used road salt in NEW ENGLAND during the winter months 30 years ago.

i know down here in florida we never had to use salt on the roads to take car of a winter snow storm, but you can bet that the wonderful ocean breezes can work the same devestation on metal frames that road salt does. we're just lucky that it takes it easy on fiberglass, lol. believe me the first thing to look at us the underside particularly around the areas where the frame members are joined together.

I bought my car on Ebay. I looked everyday for about 8 months. I practiced bidding on cars I knew I would never get. I watch closely. What I did find is that anything exceptional didn't last more then an hour passed listing. I decided I would buy one that was numbers matching with a rust free frame. I realized quickly that a 7 out of 10 still needed everything a 3 out of 10 needed. So do you pay $8,000 to $12,000 for a 7 or $2000 to $3500 for a 3???? I went with option 2.

Mine came up at about 6 pm. I called the owner in Sacramento California at 6:10 pm and bought it. He was the 2nd owner (65 year old man) with no time to work on it. It was a rust free car that had no damage. It needed paint and interior. I bought it sight unseen. I got exactly what I paid for.

Ebay is good. BUT make sure you speak to the seller. Feel him/her out. You'll get a sense for the goods and bad ones.

I missed some great deals along tha way because of uncertainty. 82 Collector with low miles for $5800 and a 78 Pace Car for $6600...
