Hi all, yes, I am a newbie so please bear with me. I recently test drove a 2003 Z06 and on fairly hard acceration it seemed to cough at a certain rpm. What I would like to know is whether this is normal or not. Thanks

Normal for my 1998 - something to do with traction control. I am surprised a Z06 does this though...

When I was investigating buying my Z06 I took it for a test drive and had the same things. Turned out to be a broken spark plug insulator. They found it by connecting to a TechII and looking for misfires. When this happened I sometimes got a check engine light but not always.

Replaced the plug and has been perfect ever since.

Not normal for me. Mine will usually break traction (under most conditions) when I accelerate hard.
Now maybe it is the traction control kicking in?
On mine when the back end breaks free no tire squel...just wheel hop and the back end comes around.
I always drive in the competion mode (traction control off). Try that!

My '02 does not hesitate or stumble at all unless I lose traction and the traction control kicks in. You can see that this is what happens when you see the condition reported in the DIC (Driver Information Center). The traction control system cuts engine power so that traction is regained. It can cut power, allow power, and cut power again in a very short period of time. That may be what you felt, especially if you were in 1st or 2nd gear (although I can also break loose in 3rd).

could be the rev limiter...if in first or second gear the car readlines very rapidly on hard accelaration..the rev limiter will cause the car to stumble.
