lately whenever i give my car gas under light throttle conditions, it will pop twice and hesitate. the pops are coming from under the hood. they're not loud like a backfire, but they're loud enough. the car will eventually take off but when merging, this is scary stuff. i had it tuned up two weeks ago. along with headers, mufflers, arfoil, and coolant b/p. any ideas?

Hmmm. Symtom, if coming from under the hood, sounds like your ignition wires may be arcing. Have you or your mechanic replce ignition wires with the last tune-up?
What I suggest is open the hood and run the car during the night and visually check for arcing between plug wires.
Also remove the plugs and visually inspect electrodes(sould be light brown in color) and insulation( white ceramic part). If you see any glossy, brown stain that means plug is arcing to adjacent area.
Keep me posted.

Hey Regal, check your plug wires, them headers like scorching them, make sure they are not close to the header tubes if so, go to national speed shop, they have the insulation tape in a roll, or u can get insulated boots, but the tape is much cheaper, I would start at the plug wires though, make sure your header bolts are tight, U will have to tighten them several times in the first couple months of operation due to expansion and contraction of the heat, hope this helps Mon!Happy Tire Scorching:beer

Try this for that delayed response.

I was dealing with a problem of climbing idle. I had done many other things but no change. At last I replaced the IAC valve on my 90 coupe 6 spd. A 10 minute job and shazam. The idle problem and that woooof sound and delay in take off are gone. SO FAR, SO GOOD. Around $47.00 part at autozone. Easy job.
IAC is in front and below Throttle Body. Below TPS.
