HID Headlight Kits

I have found that the two most important things that you need to look at first is your grounds and your battery/charging system. If your battery is not FULLY charged due to a bad or going bad alternator, you will experience this same exact problem. I have also found that if your ground points are not solid, the same thing will happen. All ground points are not equal. It took me some experimenting with different points before I found some solid ground locations. Ironically, it is bad or dirty grounds that cause all types of issues with this vehicle.

I use a Solar BA-7 to check my charging system. I suggest that you find some way to test yours also. If it fails, then you need to look at replacing the faulty component, most likely the alternator, battery or both if that's what the test reveals. These are the first two things that you should look at before doing anything else. This I know from experience, and I have had a lot of experience with these HID issues.

Well after a few years with HID bulbs in the stock lights I now have this being delivered Monday. Can't wait to get them installed. Thanks Michael!

...I liked the output enough to invest in low beam bulb/ballast conversion.
Living in Nevada means sometimes driving long lonely roads at night so a high beam bulb/ballast conversion followed.
Well we know what happens when we flip from low to high beam and that delay while the high beam warms up can be dangerous at highway speeds, so I added the fog/lows always on relay mod to keep all the lights on while driving with the high beams.
This worked fine for me, no glare issues, no oncoming drivers flashing me, until I rode in a car with true HID projectors...:W

Now I'm building these...

If you want to skip the :bash, get the silverstars and walk away!! :rotfl

Aloha :D

You're gonna love those. :thumb

Charging system is perfect. Battery is new Deka AGM. Grounds are solid. Pronlem is 35 watt ballasts confusing computer that is looking for more wattage. They lower correctly when high beams are on. I need to know the resistor size and wattage to place in paralle with the low beams to make the computer recognize them.

You don't have to use a resistor, you can use a 194 bulb in parallel. That's what I did years ago but that may not be all you need. You may also need a bigger, powered wiring harness. That's what solved my issue. Here's the harness I bought. This was when I first started working with the HID's years ago.

You need a powered harness if you don't already have one. Right click on the picture and choose "view image" in order to see it in detail. It's a lot bigger than pictured here.

Thanks; I do have a powered harness, but haven't been able to get it to work yet.

Getting it to work is going to be key. That harness I have is for the low AND high beams. It's basically two harnesses together. I used it to do my low beams and fogs. Look at how it is labeled. That should help you figure yours out. The secret to installing HID's is to make 1 headlight work at a time. That's the secret.

The harness in your picture looks different than mine, but thanks for the identification of where the connectors go. Apparently I've blown the Bose amp fuse as I'm now getting no sound from my radio.

Your harness is probably just a single hardness. Remember, mine is a dual harness so it is twice what you probably have. Mine is for powering both the low and high beams.

Aloha :D

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know who made or makes these? Hit me. :beer

Ah Mike, now for the fly in the ointment...I need these for a '65 C-2! Can ya do it? ;help

Yes, I can. I have everything I need in stock, but the '65... ;lol

I'm up tor it if your serious. Currently experimenting with some very hi power LEDs working toward the right reflector shape to focus/direct the light...
M.

I built/build these headlights for the C5.
Hit me up, I'll be offering 26 sets of these (with carbon fiber shrouds) at Halloween. mtndv8@yahoo.com
Aloha,
Michael

Does that mean I'll actually be able to get the shrouds for the lights I've had for a few years? :happyanim:
