Hi All,
After 2 years, I've finally installed the header side pipes on the 68. Fabricating a set of spiral baffles then its time to make some noise. Now that I'm approaching 59, I can't get in and out as easily as I used to. I'd like to find a pc of high temp fabric that I can roll out from the bottom of the seat over the side tube that loves to char flesh. Does anyone have any ideas of a fabric that doesn't melt and will basically be a buffer then roll it back up when out of car.
Thanks
Jim

Man I know what you're talking about. I had chrome leg burners on my '67 big block and they claimed a long list of victims. Even though I constantly warned everyone when they were getting in or out of the car it still happened.

Go to Free Shipping @ Speedway Motors, The Racing and Rodding Specialists and search items 910-71005 (1/4" thick) and 910-76005 (1/2" thick) Heatshield Armor Exhaust Wrap. Each kit has a sheet of material 12" by 60" and it withstands continuous 1800* temperatures. You can cut it easily to the size you need. You might be able to use the sill plate to clamp it down and just throw it out over the sill plate and side pipe when you need it. Roll it up and close the door when you are in or out.
