After spending quite a little time, carb kits, $$$ taking it to the so called "experts" I am contemplating replacing the stock carb for ????? Any suggestions or experience. On my old Vette I replaced the stock 750 Q-Jet with an Edelbrock 750 and it was quite a noticeable difference in both starting, idleing, and acceleration.

Oooo, you have opened a can of worms with this one!

Wait for a little while, you have just started another debate on Holley V's QJet.
There are quite a few threads on this topic.

I would say if the Holley is a standard carb for your year, stick with that, but if you want a superior carb, go for the Q Jet and use the Holley as a boat anchor!
I had a Holley 650 CFM double pumper on my old girl when I brought it from the last owner and it ran like crap. I changed it for a 795 CFM Edelbrock Q Jet and the engine came alive. More airflow is the key to bigger HP.

It is up to you, standard/ stock or improved.

Cheers

Tony

I've got an original holley on my LT-1. Rebuilt/restored and professionally installed. I've been pleased with the performance.

Would you mind giving a name of the rebuild person or company? I have tried several locally and end result is the same---doesn't run extremely well. Thanks
