After rereading the original post I think back of all the carb talk, shocks, oil, spark plugs ect. that each of us love or hate. I guess a choise to each item is a matter of personal exsperiance with that item. To the OP, If you change from a q jet to somthing else be prepaired to cough up some dough. Carb cost, adapter plate, linkage, air filter ect. For me the Fred Flintsone computer system was tuning the engine the way GM was mandated to comply with. I'm very old school and was not happy with that so mods where nessasary to obtain my sanity. Like Junk stated a q jet will perform and hold its tune but like he also stated Carter afb was a fav.
