Hello again,
Got a sales catalog from Ecklers and saw 1974-82 Hood Alignment Bumpers; did the factory install these or is this strictly aftermarket?

On the right front edge, just across from the front wheel, my hood is lower than the fender, and there are rub marks in several places. But the front edge is great and everywhere else is fine, just the one area, about 6-8 inches long across from the right front wheel where it is low by about half the width of the fiberglass.

So I was wondering if I installed these alignment bumpers if that would help or make other things worse???

Thanks in advance to all,
Lanny

Yes, the hood bumpers are a stock item. I've got two of them along the left side of my hood from the factory. When you get them from Eckler's they are real long and you have to grind them down to the position your hood needs.

Hi 21Again,
Thanks for the reply; in the info on the bumpers from Ecklers' they state that they have to be shaved down and also they glue-in, not rivet in like the factory.

Oh and hey, really like the car you have there.... I was told once that this is a rare color combination....have you heard anything like that?

LannyL81: Hey, you're the first one that I've ever talked to that has a this color combination!!! What cracks me up is even when I went to fill out the L81 Registry this color combo wasn't even in the selection guide!!! I've got the original cloth interior still in it but I must admit I'm thinking about the full leather "cinnabar" replacement seats from Eckler's. I would love to recover with cloth again, but just can't find it. As far as your hood bumpers are concerned mine are NOT riveted they are guled on.

I have cloth covers also and they need replacing, www.alknochinteriors.com have cloth covers and are like factory new, so they say, they list a color RUST but not sure if that is your color.

I thought about leather too, but have decided to put in cloth again. I have not found any NOS cloth so they are as close as possible. Lots of Luck

Thanks for the tip, I've sent a question to them asking about what they mean by "Rust". I wasn't aware of an official color "Rust" in 1981. You would think being the pros on interior restoration they would at least call it the same color as GM did, unless what they have is not really cinnabar.:crazy

21Again,
Off the subject of hood bumpers, but thats okay with me....got my answer.

My car came with the Cinnabar leather. Didn't know that there was a cloth available in Cinnabar. And like you, I also find that this color combination is usually not listed anywhere. I think Eckler's was the only one that does in their interior section.

I have found that interior parts in this color are not easily found. I ended up getting paint for some of the parts and also to redo my seat buckets along with adding in the power seat. I got it mixed locally and it was a great match.

So how do we get this color combination recongized??
