I went to pull the latch to check the oil the other day, and a little spring with the ends a little flared popped off. I didn't hear anything break, it is just now the latch doesn't retract the two cables, it is just loose. Anybody have a clue how to re attach the spring? It is hard as heck to get under there and look at that latch to see what is going on...:mad

If your cable did what Mic's did, you need to replace it. The flared end is what holds the cable into the handle so it'll pull. AFAIK there's no way to repair it.

Kneel down outside the car and pull the handle. You can see the cables from the side if they're still attached - you don't need to crawl under the dash.

Nope, never does. Now that my Vette is running OK, my Outback decided to take a vacation by killing its alternator... As soon as the OB is fixed, the Vette will probably do something bad...

Yeah , my vette sits inna garage now , waiting for new pick up coil . And my other car engine died too the other day ... I have 2 cars but they are both broken ... Beer anyone ?

Got anything stronger? I wound up with the wrong brake pads for my wife's car, to top everything else off. Same part number, won't fit... This is from the dealer, no less.

Jack Daniels , I got for that . But A Good company is more important :)
Life would be plain without those small 'k ups . Just have to keep going on .
And when we all solve those little nagging problems , we'll love our vettes even more that day :)
Justin ! The hood latch is okay (well it isn't , yeah) But AT least your engine lives !!:)

It never ends does it...:(
Call it entropy, planned obsolescence, wear, fatigue, oxidation, martensitic grain dislocation, stress, strain, Whatever.
If it's made of metal, it will eventually break.
No, it never ends. Rust never sleeps.

Update.

Last weekend I decided to take a look at it and the little metal thing that runs through the bracket that holds the two cables to release the hood had broke and was laying on my kick panel. Well I didn't know how to re asseble that so I just put a bolt in with a nut. The only bad thing now is it doesn't return itself, but oh well I can live with that.
